Poway

One of the younger cities in California, Poway was not incorporated as an independent city until 1980.  Because of its strong rural roots, Poway is sometimes referred to as “The City in the Country.”  As of the 2010 census, it has a population of just over 47,000 people.

Artifacts from the area show Native Americans had settled on this land for hundreds of years.  Arrowheads, glassware, and pictographs date this early history to somewhere about the 16th century.  Its modern history began in the 18th century, when the area was used as a cattle ranch.  It would remain a stock range for another 100 years, until people moved into the area to begin other farming.  As of 1887, the town’s population was only about 400 residents.

Poway would remain a mainly rural area until the 1960s.  The population of the town from 1960-1970 grew from about 1,100 people to over 9,000.  It would continue to boom and, by 1980, the population had grown to over 32,000.  This was due to the relatively cheap, new developments going up in this once rural community, and because it is in close proximity to many other parts of San Diego County, it became popular for commuters.  The boom would also lead to many new businesses popping up in the area, including a Poway personal injury attorney’s office as well as many other professional services.

Poway is home to many entertainers and sports stars.  San Diego Padres’ Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn lives in the area, as does the band Blink-182.  David Justice, former Major League Baseball player and a winner of the World Series with Atlanta and the New York Yankees, also calls Poway home.  With its rural feel in close proximity to the city, it is the ideal location for anyone who wants to live in the country but still have close to access to the amenities of the city.

Even in these rural areas, however, injuries happen unexpectedly.  If this has happened to you, contact a Poway personal injury attorney today.  With their knowledge and expertise, you can rest easy knowing your claim is getting the attention it deserves while you can focus on getting better for yourself and your family.  Consultations are always free and there is no fee unless we collect.  If you have been hurt by the negligence of another, contact a Poway personal injury attorney today.
